Ready to Ride

Well, after yesterday I thought I better do something for the sore arse! So, RR and I went to MEC (Mountain Equipment Co-op) and I bought biking pants with padding and a pair of biking gloves. Don't like how the rubber on the handlebars leaves dents in my hands. Sooooo... I think tomorrow will be a better experience. At least, I hope so! I'll keep you posted. :D

Finn Slough

Just an interesting sign...

Hell has frozen over!

And I love it, being a fan of coolness! :-)

We went for our first bike ride today and it was fun! We rode for about an hour, and it could have been longer except - MY ARSE IS SORE!!!!!!!!!!! And I have a good bike seat and everything. Man, that is killer! I'm hoping that with time it will not hurt any more - or I'll have to get a different bike seat. I think tomorrow I'm going to try some kind of padding. Whoa, Nelly!

So this is how the bike looks when it's folded. Fits well into the trunk. But RR brought his bike home today so we won't have all the added time to load the bike in the car, drive to transit, get his bike, blah-blah-blah.... We'll just start from home and see where we end up. I was actually so impressed that I could ride and everything. It was lots of fun - except for the arse! :|

An artsy fartsy shot of me actually RIDING the bike!

Evidence that I am indeed SITTING on a bike!

You can't see it in this photo, but I'm actually riding....

And here I'm standing and waving. Isn't that nice.... :D

Sorry, no pictures of RR since he had the camera and was taking pictures of me, because, as we ALL know - it's all about me - hahahahahahaha.

More tomorrow, hopefully..... (Did I say that the breeze while riding was nice.... :D)

My New Baby

Yep, this is it. See that hinge in the very center - it folds there - and on the front bar leading up to the handlebars you can see a locking thing - that is where the handlebars fold down. I still need to practice doing that but we're ready to ride tomorrow. :D

Bike Riding

From the dyke facing south....

Still facing south....

Over to the east....

Facing west....

Across the road still facing west ...

And facing north....

Back to the east ....

I just happened to be turned around and noticed my shadow - thought it was interesting.... And SOMEONE needs to get rid of that fat arse!

So this is part of the scenery I'll be seeing tomorrow on my new bike. :D

Farmer's Market

Had to drive RR to his bus near the Farm Market near Highway 99 so I dropped in to buy some fruit and veggies. On the way out you drive through a back part of the "farm" and it's really cute. They have nice planted areas like this, some old machinery, ducks, a few ponds and so on. It was raining or I would have gotten out and taken more photos but here was a nice area with some flowers. There's WAY more cute stuff there to see. (The big picture looks funny because I was taking it from inside the car. *G*)

AND! I finally bought a folding bike today! I'm having a seat put on it and a flashing red light for the rear - so I'll pick it up tomorrow. Can't wait. I actually test rode it for a few minutes and could actually get the hang and the breeze felt great - hahahahahaha. Hey, if I can't drag a fan with me, how about nature's fan - a nice breeze riding on a bike. Woo hoo!

Pictures of my bike tomorrow! ;)

Purple is Beautiful.....

These photos were sent to me by my friend Melva. But I like to call her Melva Toast! *G*

She took them at the Spokane Games in early August. Thanks, Melva - they are lovely. (Click on them to see them larger - even better!) I love the one that is fuzzy and yellow. Like dandelion when it's old - and going to blow away.... It looks soft and fuzzy....

A favourite tree... and sometimes bikers are annoying.....

This is one of my favourite trees. I can't remember the name of it right now. Anyway, it looks fairly boring, but when the leaves turn it's really beautiful.

And I just want to say that walking to work yesterday, enjoying my tunes, some moron on a bike came driving up behind me and passed beside me - no warning, no nothing. What if I happened to move over at that particular time and 1) he hit me and 2) he fell onto Oak Street, which is very busy during rush hour. To say it's annoying ... well, that's not the word I WANT to use, ya ken? I don't have a problem with bikers riding on the sidewalk, but have some concern about others. Man, that bugged me.

Ok - rant over. :D Still no bike, but it will be this week.

A new street, some new trees ... hahahahahahaha. It was a lovely walk this morning - nice and crisp!

I never noticed these flowers before....

Wild and cute!

I did more walking today than usual. To work from the car, about 12 blocks, at noon about 10 blocks, and then back up the hill tonight. Sheesh! zzzzzzzzz At least I know it's good for me.

Still investigating bikes - hopefully this will be resolved this week.

FALL - HURRY UP!!!!!!!!

Months ago I bought about 2 meters of this fabric to make a blouse - and Tamara said "No WAY you are making a blouse out of that!"  What!?  So I cut it into quilt squares for my quilting gang and I only have a few squares of it left.  :|   What!?  I love this. I love fall.... :D  Oh well.....  Went bike shopping today and the latest is a folding bike! I have seen a few and I still want to see the Asama ones, which I can see on Tuesday. A folding bike would handle the problem of worrying about it being stolen cause I can bring it up into the apartment! Can't wait!

Golf....

I am SOOOOOOOO not a golfer! I just cannot comprehend the science and precision and whatever - geometry? - that goes into a good swing versus a bad swing etc. etc. - let alone a hole in one! I just like it when Tiger Woods wins. ROFL! I do!

Anyway, Mr. Judelf likes to golf and today was the neighbour vs. neighbour little golf tournament between our complex and the one beside us that shares the same driveway and - the roundabout! *G* - and snow removal and stuff like that. Anyway, I am happy to report that our team of 4 (which Mr. Judelf played on) won! Lowest score! Yay, us! Then there was a dinner. I didn't play golf, but I attended the dinner, of course. ;) RR and I had steak, salad, baked potato and garlic bread, and coffee. All in all, a fun time to mingle with a couple of neighbours from our complex and to meet a few from next door. It was a nice change of pace to eat outside under a tent. Quite fun!

Something just made me remember this post card I bought years ago in Bellingham: Scenery is here - wish you were beautiful - hahahahahahahahahahaha.

And now for something a little different....

You never know what I'll see on my travels. I love my iPhone. Talk about phoning it in! *G* It takes pretty great pictures for only being a 2 Megapixel camera. My first digital camera (2001) was an HP 2 MP and it didn't take pictures this great. Thanks, guru! :) Now, I'm off to go look for a bicycle to buy.....

The roundabout...

I like to take pictures around the complex and then put them in the elevators - it adds a nice little touch and I also put in "Welcome to..." and the building addresses so visitors know where they are in case they can't remember the address right off the top of their heads. Anyway, our landscaping person put a lot of effort into our roundabout and I thought I'd recognize her efforts. Unfortunately, there is a fire hydrant right in the middle of the roundabout so I asked Tamara to Photoshop it out for me. She did that and the picture was great and it's hanging up. However, she thought I might like this one better:

hahahahahahahahahaha. I died laughing when I first saw it...... (click to see the large one)

A new route....

Well, I'm running out of interesting things to see on my regular route, so took a bit of a detour today.

Shaughnessy - where rich people live.....

Neat entrance to someone's yard....

This is the building where all the "characters" live.... :)

Love this entrance. It's at the corner of the block on a 45 degree angle. Nifty...

Thought for the day - I hate the looks of that Hellboy guy! He gives me the creeps. :D

I love this man!!!!!!

He's such a babe .... er, saint.....

Today ....

A favourite past haunt.....

The weather this morning....

Character suites. It makes me wonder: Does that mean that those renting them are real characters, or that those renting them have real character?

This is the same bunch of flowers in the picture earlier this week - the stones are not blue! Weird. I love the blue stones better. :)

See what I mean about the incline! I'm not making it up! It isn't HUGE, but it goes on for about 7 blocks straight, which is what is annoying. Notice the weather was better this afternoon....

Some bushes that were pruned. In person they remind me of the forest in the Little Lulu comics. You can't get the full effect from this photo. There is about a 50' length of them. I think it would take a better photographer than I am to capture what I want. :)

The funny thing is this side of the street doesn't seem as bad as the other side of the street when walking up the incline. :)

Where we bought dinner tonight.... :D Ok, ok, I only had ONE chicken wing and some fries! And dang - I knew the car needed a wash!

Update on the bottle and can - hahahahaha.....

I took a closer photo of the bottle today. It says Olde English 800 and the can says something about Vodka. Vodka in a CAN? I just Googled Olde English and, among other things, it says "Because of its relatively high alcohol content and low price, it is popular among those on a tight budget wanting to become inebriated quickly." Actually - TIGHT budget is funny - hahahahahaha. I wonder where the person is who originally had the bottle - ROFL. Sorry for the blurriness of the enlarged photo - it's difficult to get a decent picture without my reading glasses. At least the grass is in focus. :D

Along the way to work....

Facing north down Oak Street from 23rd Avenue....

Down around 21st Avenue at this point.....

What a wild thing this is - it is cascading down from the yard and hangs down about 5 feet! Love it!

A nice wild garden along an apartment building - small and past its prime for this year - but still nice....

One of my favourite trees ... but I forget the name ... anyone?????

Wild Birds Unlimited - neat store, even though I don't have any birds.

It's fun walking when I'm looking for interesting things......... :-) Oh, and in the first photo you can see my office building waaaaaay down there .... just to the right of that camper - with all the greenish windows. Oh - and I am taking all these photos with my iPhone! Wow - it rocks. :D If you click on the photos you can see them way bigger.

Walking to and from work...

For quite a few months I have been parking the car about 12-15 blocks from work and walking. I quite enjoy it and it's about the only exercise I get. Gave up on the Tony Little Gazelle (not enough room at our place for it) and I hope to get a bike, but the walks in the early morning are quite enjoyable. Especially since it's downhill - hahahahahaha.

For a person who doesn't really care about gardening, per se, except to look at and appreciate them, this blog so far has a lot of stuff about plants and outdoors! What's up with that!?

Anyway, here is what I saw this morning - brown-eyed susans. Nice, and brown isn't really even a colour I like much. I love how the bricks are that blue colour.

On the way back from the bus stop (yeah, I took the bus back to the car because it was late and I was lazy and ... it's an uphill incline all the way) I saw this booze bottle (looks like whiskey, but I didn't go up and read the label) and I think some energy drink can by the tree trunk. For some reason, it just seems hilarious that someone would leave that there.

It makes for an interesting walk. :-)

Wild Flowers

Actually, perhaps I was confusing in my last post. When I have my own garden *I* do not intend to do the gardening. I will have an expert gardener who will create my lovely vision. I don't like dirt on my hands. :)

Anyway, my friend (yes, I do have a friend) Jess from work shared a couple of pictures which she took while hiking at Brandywine Meadows near Squamish. Thanks for sharing, Jess. I don't think my garden will be QUITE as big as this photo *G*, but it will be really nice.  Nicer than Rick's. :)
