My wonderful day off

Where I spent most of my morning! And I need to get a crown next time! Yay! :|

Oh, well. Had a latte or two, so that's ok. :D

Ringtones

I am a pathetic loser when it comes to ringtones. I have 4 of them now - It's Just Talk (Pat Metheny Group) for RR, Beat 70 (PMG) for TR, Big Love (Moshang) for Jason, and Sex on Fire (Kings of Leon), again for TR because she loves them. :D  And I have to get them from the US iTunes store because the Canadian store doesn't have them - losers! :D

Sunday Driving

Hey - look what's up! The Canada Line skytrain is on the tracks and has been testing for a while out here. I haven't seen it actually in motion, but RR has...

I'd like to know why these old mail boxes are sitting out in the lane behind our place!

(UPDATE: October 2 - they are now gone - just makes you wonder -
the things that go on 'out there'!)

Like the colours in these particular trees.

A little closer up - looks way better live!

Went for a llllooooonnnnnggggg bike ride today - all the way from our place, down Granville Ave., on the Shell Road Trail down to Ironwood - and back - zzzzzzzzzzzz. After that, we had to go to a movie! Saw Burn After Reading - oh, gawd, it was hilarious. Pointless, but hilarious!

A fun picture

Ok - come on - is that not cute!!!! ;-) This is Darth Bear-der, I guess you'd call him. Outside the Easter Seal House on Oak. Just thought it should be shared with folks. :-)

And, of course, there is my tree....... Ok - Ok - yeah, it's my favourite tree - but look how lovely it's looking. And the top is STILL GREEN! Isn't it bizarre! Love it....

Dark Knight.....

Well, today it's raining, so no one wants to go for a bike ride! Oh well, so sad..... NOT! :D

Since it's a dark day, we're going to see DARK KNIGHT this afternoon. Woo!

Meantime, I thought I'd mention my favourite gay duo/couple - Colin and Justin from 'Colin and Justin's Home Heist'. They are totally hilarious and I wish they'd do a make-over on our place! What's with all these shows only happening in Toronto - sheesh! Anyway, I watched the "pink" episode today. I was killing myself laughing all the way through. LOVE THESE GUYS! So funny and talented!

I particularly love Colin - he's the one on the left. He is just such a cutie and SO funny! If you can't get enough of decorating and humour, you should check them out on HGTV. You can even check them out if you don't get cable - just go to http://www.hgtv.ca/homeheist/ and you can watch the episodes online. They are one of my naughty vices - hahahahahaha. Oh - did I mention THEY ARE SCOTTISH!!!!!!!!!!! Accents to die for!

More Chinese Lantern Festival pictures

I really liked these particular lanterns at the Chinese Lantern Festival. I think they are quite marvellous.

These dragon figures were made from little bottles with coloured water in them. They are just gorgeous! I would never have guessed what they were made of.

Nothing much new today. Two days off - yay!

Chinese Lantern Festival in Richmond

Went to the Chinese Lantern Festival last night. There were sure a lot of lights and tons of work went into the displays! This is just a small sample of what was there.

About the fish display - everything in this display was made from Chinese tea cups, saucers, plates and so on - it was really marvellous! There are other displays made out of thousands of little glass bottles filled with (I assume) coloured water - really gorgeous. I'll post some pictures.  I should have taken more video of everything, but I just wasn't thinking.

You may wonder - what's up with the dinosaurs! Well, they have Dinosaurland - not sure why, but there it is. :-)

All in all, it was ok. Lots of funny typos on the signs. Music in the video is BIG LOVE by Moshang.

Just a few shots from today

Just a few shots taken this morning between 7:15 and 8:05.
On Russ Baker Way.

Along King Ed.

My favourite tree - shaping up...... :D

Went to the Chinese Lantern Festival tonight. I'll have to download the pictures..... zzzzzzzzzzz.

Shadows

Yep, the mornings are changing - sunrise is later - the autumn chill is in the air.....

YAY!!!!!!!! hahahahahahah

Monday, September 15, 2008

Now THAT is what I'm waiting for! This is a real autumn tree! Took this last November 5th so it'll be a while, but I love autumn!!!!!!! Nothing new today - had a day off, did some work around the house and so on. Had a meeting to vote on a new roof tonight - it passed!

No bike ride today - couldn't handle the pressure - hahahahahaha. Sore arse! Anyway, the leaves are starting to turn - this was in the parking lot at the mall. Looked better in person. :D

Shell Road Trail Redux

Well, back to the Shell Road Trail. It's been over a month since the first time I set out for a decent walk - the day Jenny and I went to the Shell Road Trail. So Tam and I decided to go there today. (That's her in the picture - I was driving and shooting!) Went down Granville Ave. to the trail, and then down past Francis and came out where the trail ends on Shell Road, went to Williams, over to Garden City and then up to Blundell. Had a strawberry yogurt drink of some kind, Tam had an iced green tea. At BLENZ! Sacrilege! Then we went home, I had stupid hat head from Rick's helmet (but I think this is going to be a recurring problem!), had to fix my hair, went for sushi and then out to Walmart. Bought a new bike helmet (I'll still have hat head, cause it's the same kind of helmet!) and Tam bought a bike bell. If my arse doesn't kill me, we'll be out there again tomorrow!

My favourite tree - the sumac

The neat thing about this tree is that the leaves underneath are turning red and the ones on top are still green. I have a great vantage point for this *G* and it just looks so interesting.

Got home from work to find RR sick with a sore throat and start of a cold. So I just ignored the phone, watched Y&R and several episodes of Glenn Beck that I had taped (I love GB, he's hilarious!!!!), and went to bed early! That was weird. :D

Time for a bike ride today. Guess it's just me and TR.

More Fog

I saw even BETTER fog yesterday but I was in the wrong lane to change and get into the park. So, I was prepared today! It looked much better yesterday, but you get the drift.

I love fog like this.....

Early Morning

Driving to work at 6:40 a.m. zzzzzzzzzzz The days are getting darker earlier and getting lighter later. One more week to fall.........

Fog

It was a bit foggy downtown today.

Monday, September 8, 2008

And now for something totally different.....

You know.... years ago you could put something in the back alley with a "free" sign on it, and it would be gone in half an hour! Well, I guess people are just more discriminating these days ... or perhaps it's cause it's not on the east side of Vancouver - hahahahaha. Anyway, we left Tam's old desk in the alley behind her place and no one took it from Saturday night to tonight, so we had to take it apart so it would fit in the trunk of the car, take to Value Village - they won't take unassembled articles, so we had to put it back together to leave it there. ROFL! Good thing RR brought his electric screwdriver, and it only involved about 16 screws. Done in a jiffy! Whew!

On the way home, saw this:

Looks pretty neat, eh? Now for some Chinese food and Y&R! :D

Vermont Memories

These songs remind me of our trip to Vermont!

Anyway.... we had a really long bike ride yesterday. A few things.... the bike seat sucked! I just cannot get used to it - it hurts too much. So, today we went to Cap's and I got a new gel seat. It was much better. I expect it to be even better next weekend when I don't already have a sore rump! I didn't wear the bike pants today - that Spandex stuff is just too hot! Mind you, I wore them under my regular capri pants, and the temperature was quite warm even with the breeze. So, I think I'll hold off wearing them until the weather turns cooler.

It's just so nice out there with the breeze blowing while riding the bike. My leg muscles need a bit more exercise but all in all it went ok.

Biking - September 6, 2008

Yesterday was a lovely day for a bike ride!

Tam, RR and I had a great time! Stopped at SB! :D

Can you hear what he's saying? :-)

Doorways

I thought this would be a neat project for Lorri - who is the world's greatest architectural photographer!!!!!!

Well, she's definitely good!!!!! She has a display of some of her photos in the Starbucks on Cambie and 19th at the moment! Hi, Lorri. :D

Just some of the interesting doorways on Oak Street. I think Lorri could make a lovely series of these.

Wednesday

A nice grass picture from Jenny. Love it.

This rhubarb looks pretty delicious! Another photo from Jenny - taken at the community gardens in Richmond.

Not much new today other than I walked from the car to work and from work to the car, so double the exercise. RR had to take my bike to the shop to get the front brake fixed. I need to fold the bike properly so I don't catch the wires in it! Oopsie. :) But it's all fixed now and ready to roll!!!!!!

Fun on the dike

Well, it looked much more impressive in person. :D But it was fun.

Labour Day 2008

This is the first time I ever went bike riding on Labour Day! :D Started from home, down Gilbert, down Granville Ave., down Number 1 Road to Terra Nova! Had to stop here:

After about a 30 minute break we continued on to River Road to ride on the dike. Love the grass! Saw a heron. Lots of planes were taking off. Took a video of some of them. I'll post one later.

Some of the landmarks:

The Olympic Skating Oval - still under construction, but starting to take shape and look like it's going to be lovely. It faces over the water towards Vancouver.

Of course, we COULD have just driven over and posed in front of the signs and buildings, but ... truly, I have better things to do - hahahahahaha.

It was a great ride. Can't wait for next weekend (no time during the week). The padded biking pants helped - I was riding like a veteran. :D
